My lightbulb moment!

Swinging from the chandelier...that's what I wanted to do when we finally replaced our old, stupid, small light fixture in the dining room. As mentioned in previous posts, we bought a foreclosure and the old owners took everything, including all the light fixtures, so the bank replaced all the fixtures with these little crappy ones. The fixture wouldn't be that bad for a hallway, but definitely not for almost every room in the house.

We started the chandelier search at our favorite store, Home Depot, but didn't have much luck. So we ventured over to Progressive Lighting and holy cow that place is overwhelming. They have light fixtures ranging from $10 to $30,000. We walked around for so long looking up at the ceiling that it made me dizzy. I'm going for a navy/silver/white look in the dining room so we decided on a brushed nickel chandelier...and we had a 15% off coupon!

And now for the good stuff...before and after pictures:

Here's the puny little light and our red walls (don't miss those).

And here is the after! We also bought a medallion at Progressive Lighting (below).

We put the table and chairs in the dining room but we'll also be adding the china cabinet that is currently sitting in our garage. I'd also like to eventually add some kind of rug and a table that will sit against one of the walls. But here are the room before and afters with what we have so far...

I'm not quite sure why I didn't take a picture with the lights on, guess I forgot!

We have a bunch of other things we're working on right now...yard, refinishing furniture, painting (of course)...I just have to find more time to write blog posts and take pictures!

On a side note, I'm getting married in less than 6 months! Craaaazy! My "resolution" was that when I hit the 6 month mark, I was going to start working out/eating better, but to be honest, I haven't really done anything. This house and wedding planning takes up so much time, I don't have a lot left over for working out. I'm hoping that if I write this down it will help motivate me. I'm going to try and start doing P90X or other workouts in the morning...because it's just not happening for me after work. So, here's to hoping this blog post will give me some motivation!

  1. looks AMAZING... i love the look youre going for! try the jillian michaels 30 day shred. you can get the DVD on amazon for CHEAP. it's only a 20 minute workout but it will whip you into shape quick! I love it!

  2. Thanks for the suggestion on the video! 20 minutes sounds really good to me! haha That's the only thing I don't like about p90x is that they're 1 - 1 1/2 hours long!!
